About Us

Classmates

Practice What You Teach is a team of coaches and consultants who are teachers at heart. We believe schools can best achieve their mission when they hire with purpose, develop with intent, and retain for sustainable impact. The core of our work is rooted in building relationships that empower learning communities to confidently pursue their missions and change lives through education. Our community is strengthened by a network of talented teachers who practice our core values in and outside the classroom, and are supported by organizations who wish to intentionally hire, develop, and retain effective teams.

After nearly two decades of teaching in the U.S. and abroad, Mashal Hill witnessed first-hand the challenges that schools face in sourcing and retaining high-value teachers. While reflecting on her own practice prior to the pandemic, Mashal's conversations with colleagues and administrators about career growth potential, teacher burnout, and faculty turnover rates inspired her to use her insight and experience to address the international teacher shortage. In December 2019, she spearheaded a peer network of teachers and administrators who were sought support in the areas of career change, teacher attraction, and faculty retention. From there, Practice What You Teach was established as a PLC (professional loving community) focused on teachers' health and overall wellbeing.
